RIGHTS & PERMISSIONS COORDINATOR - Peterborough NH

Carus Publishing Company, an award-winning publisher of children's magazines as well as books for all ages, offers a multifaceted opportunity for the ideal candidate to secure rights and permissions for the company as well as license rights to outside vendors.

Expectations

  • Work within the editorial department to ensure the timely delivery of text, art, and photo contracts to contributors.
  • Process contracts for payment.
  • Compile accurate credit acknowledgments.
  • Provide data to support budgeting and forecasting.
  • Review and process permissions usage requests from outside vendors.
  • Negotiate permissions fees and rights contracts.
  • Ensure contract terms align with permissions requests.
  • Strategize with manager regarding contract language negotiations with major licensors and secure the information necessary for permissions processing.
  • Ensure timely clearance of assigned permissions in accordance with schedules.
  • Compile documentation needed for processing payments, and turn that documentation over to accounting for payment.
  • Provide historical data and prepare budgets and forecasts as needed.
  • Independently prioritize work to align with schedules.
  • Create and maintain accurate, complete database records regarding all permissions.
  • Prepare and distribute database reports as required.

Requirements

  • BA/BS in related field or equivalent experience
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, FileMaker Pro
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks, and complete work within deadlines
  • Highest degree of attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Effective interpersonal communication and collaboration skills
  • Knowledge of rights and permissions
  • Ability to research and analyze complex contract language and negotiate the best possible fees
  • Leadership skills
  • Experience in permissions or subsidiary rights negotiating financial terms and contracts
  • Experience in publishing or related industry
  • Must work in Peterborough, NH, office.

MARKETING INTERN

Carus Publishing Company, a leader in the children's publishing arena, is looking for a committed, driven marketing intern to start work immediately in our Peterborough, NH office. This internship is full- or part-time and unpaid.

Position Overview:

The primary role of the Marketing Intern is to support the Marketing department in executing strategic initiatives. The Intern works as an integral part of the Marketing team, succeeding in a dynamic, constantly changing, fast paced environment, accomplishing a wide variety of day-to-day objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Pay per click search engine reporting and bid management
  • Assist with search engine optimization efforts
  • Collaborate on email marketing campaigns
  • Research and implement social media marketing campaigns
  • Writing and editing assignments as needed
  • Assist with public relations campaigns, correspondence and follow-up
  • Research, track and manage publicity activity
  • Assist with management and maintenance of blogs and website
  • Support marketing team and with a wide variety of administrative support
  • Demonstrate independent thinking, creativity, and contribute new ideas
  • Keep up to date with social media news and trends

Requirements:

  • Strong writing, grammar, and English skills
  • Excellent organizational, time and self management skills with strong attention to details
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize multiple projects and requests simultaneously
  • Ability to meet challenging deadlines and see projects through to completion
  • Strong initiative, resourcefulness and the ability to work under pressure
  • Ability to work well with others with a positive and outgoing attitude
  • Outstanding work ethic - reliable, punctual, flexible
  • Ability to learn quickly in a dynamic and fast paced environment
  • Strong communication skills - both written and verbal
  • Desire to learn about the marketing side of children's publishing

Qualifications:

  • Experience in Marketing, Advertising, English, Communications, or Public Relations.
  • Writing experience preferred - creative copy writing a plus
  • Solid computer skills required - proficient use of Windows based operating systems and applications preferred
  • Passion for Marketing, Advertising, Publishing preferred
